with the floats just passing by.
A smile was displayed across our lips,
and a twinkle was in our eye.

We were strangers nonetheless,
never had we met.
But that day at the parade,
it seemed that fate was set.

Little children laughed and played,
and adults were filled with glee.
I did not see you where you were,
and you could not see me.

Colors flew across the sky,
but we never could catch a glance.
But that day at the parade,
fate would have her way, in chance.

All the sound just disappeared,
and I heard the sounds of a breath.
I looked around to silenced laughter,
for all the sounds were suppressed.

And then across the street I saw,
a man just as confused as I.
And that day at the parade,
you somehow caught my eye.

I heard then the softest voice,
a whisper of true love.
I knew that you were heaven sent,
my angel from above.

And as the floats just passed on by,
and the sky turned neon blue.
I could only hear one voice,
and the voice belonged to you.
