My reflection tries to wash away what you have done
But there is no soap or water powerful enough to erase this scar

You were as deceitful as an imagination in the black of night
Causing me to see monsters in your eyes, but feel comfort in your arms
Using my vulnerability to your advantage

My body twisted and turned while wrapped around your finger
Willing to do anything to feel the warmth of your heart
Instead of the icy cold fire of your stare

With the sharp blade of my tongue I ended the spell you had over me
But I was the one who bled of anguish
A crimson river ran from my heart but did not seem to affect you

It seems that remorse is an emotion you keep locked away
Hidden beneath the stoic soul inside you
Protected by your fierce detachment you will never feel any pain

And now that it is done
It is only a story written in a book and lost amongst the tear-drenched pages
Surrounded by similar stories of love and animosity

Although I must tell you with all the pain that you have caused me
I do not waste my sympathy on myself
I feel sorry for you

For my soul shines brighter then it ever has
Beaming compassion and understanding
And letting in rays of new love and friendship

But you will stay as the impassive statue
Crumbling from loneliness over time
Leaving only dust as your legacy

I love how it's so dark yet uplifting. It's nice when after the letdowns of your life you manage to stand on your feet firmly AND bless us with such a nicely written piece.Kudos. :)

I must agree: this was very powerful.
Reminds me of something similar and recently occuring in my life... but regardless, this is not mine, it is yours, and it is wonderfully displayed.
