Tearprints(unlike footprints)

unlike footprints, these are tear prints
completely translucen..invisible
impossible to trace back to the cause...

you stare into my hazel eyes
and see nothing but my loving gaze
you are missing a few minor details
like the streaming lines of invisible prints
verticaly lining both sides of my face.

now as painfull as it is to do this
I must ask the difficult questions
are you ready to take this on
i love you, but are you aware?
aware of the journey your headed for
to love me is no easy task.

are you aware of what is expected,
once you get in deep?
are you ready for what you could find,
the bad and the good, combined?

for instance lets start with the simple things.
sometimes i cry out in pain, and anguish
mostly, i never know why...
are you ready to dry those salt-water drops
with no questions asked, and no reasons why?

are you ready to take on every thought
every flaw, and the occasional "give-up" desire?
can you handle the times that can seem neverending
when depression takes hold, and doesn't let go?

Lets not forget the weirder times,
when my mind just can't decide..
i'm happy, i'm sad, i cry, then i laugh
insanitys an understatement.

don't forget, before you decide...
there are many expectations...
you always have to be there
once you say you will...
you have to follow through
no games alowd you see...
its only one way or the other
you love everything, or nothing
no changing is to be expected
"what you see is what you get."

there are a few extra things as well,
are you with me? or are you ready to go?
like being expected just to know..
to tell when i'm hurting, with sorrow untold...
and you are expected to see the hidden tears
the ones that leave the marks on my face..
you have to be able to see the marks too
the invisible raindrop shaped salt-water scars
left behind from the many past teardrops that fell
and filled in with the present lullybyes at night

unlike footprints, these are tearprints
completely translucen..invisible
impossible to trace back to the cause...

A beautiful piece of longing and honesty, stary. There is a
human plea ever present among your words as well as in the
hearts of most. We desire so much just to be taken at face
value and understood. You have done well to convey
this very sentiment. Brutally honest, but with a certain
tempered softness. Like saying, I want to be with you .. I
want to love you and you love me, but ... this is me. Scars
and all and I will not change. I can't.

It's wonderfully sincere. I absolutely LOVED this line ..

the invisible raindrop shaped salt-water scars

just, WOW!

This is a fabulous piece which asks of another total acceptance to be with one who feels the pain of all life around them. A wonderful way to live but not many enjoy being in the wake of all that emotion. When someone can live with this constant stream and love you unconditionally you have met a person who loves you body and soul. I feel this piece is reminding all to look well before you partner up and that is absolutely heavenly. My thanks poet for this spectacular searching piece.

The Ghost Alarms barge into your doorway, though politely. We were sent here by another poet and we are glad we were sent to your door. This poem struck us with some of its figurative language. Loving you is no easy task? We truly understand uneasy tasks; try doing eveything in unison with many others. While you have to sacrifice your individuality, being a Ghost Alarm is well worth it. It is worth the struggle, it is worth the pain, it is even worth getting bloody footprints all over our floor. We feel that loving you is possibly worth that as well. We enjoyed our visit and hope that you will invite us personally next time - we promise not to barge in. But in honour of your write, we each pull a black rose from under our robes and lay them at your doorway. As we are leaving, Skeleton Jim, our friend/chauffeur, reminds us that payment for his services are black roses. We each look at each other, calling ourselves stupid for leaving our fare inside of your doorway. Skeleton Jim says, "tough luck, fellas", then begins his evil laugh. Because of this, as is always the case, his bottom jaw unhinges and falls to the street. We bend down in unison to pick it up, and hold his bottom jaw for ransom, reminding him, we have no other way home. He signals with his head for us to get in, because he cannot talk without a bottom jaw. So we hand him the jaw and step in our carriages. As we leave, we hear Skeleton Jim say, "you guys sure drive a hard bargain." And we are much to bargain with for we are many. Wonderful poem, we have learned much from your words. And we have also learned, that while Skeleton Jim is our friend, he can also be selfish sometimes.

May spiders crawl across your body tonight and tickle you in your sleep ...... The Ghost Alarms

First of all, the title is very good. The tearprint idea is very creative. The poem is very solid and consistent. You did a great job writing it. This poem gives me a great bit of insight to who you are. And from it, I understand that you know who you are and are not going to change. As you say, "What you see is what you get" I really respect a person who can come to terms with their foibles as you did. And a true man will respect them as well. True love is accepting the desirable and undesirable things about a person. Not that I find your tearprints undesirable. But a true man will not find it offensive if you cry, he will only see an opportunity to make you feel better.

Forgive the superfluousness of my comment.

This piece is heart-wrenchingly, brutally honest. It takes bravery to expose someone to the all and everything of oneself and then allow them to make the decision whether to continue with the relationship. Far easier to conceal certain things in order to secure their love and then gradually allow these aspects to be seen later in the hope that the person loves you enough now to just accept them anyway.
Also I love the ideas of footprints and tearprints.

I love that title! That's what caught my eye as I was randomly looking through your pages. Great idea!

*sigh*

Such a wonderful write. The challenge to be taken on. Don't expect me to be perfect but you are what is perfect for me. I gather he accepted. Some people hit the road when they think the honeymoon is over..... or even worse, they see you have faults. All we ask is that our partner accepts us for all that we are. Accept me, faults and all.

A lovely piece on what it's like to be human and the desire for someone to accept us as such.

Thank you for a very enjoyable read.

Tim
