  • oh, victorian rose, i loved you so well
bought n' carried you home last spring
your blossoms smelled so sweet to all
this year i waited for you to do it again,
    ~*~
alas, wicked snow storm a few weeks ago
you waited outside for springs warmth anew
to save such sweetness, dragged vines inside
oh, victorian rose, now ive almost killed you!
    ~*~
6ft high your arms spread, leaves in full bloom
little buds everywhere, we'd hardly the room
ah, but you, i loved so, all last summer long
i wanted you healthy, i wanted you strong!
    ~*~
somewhat lopsided, for i gave you that bath
you reside again by the door, out on the path
im not so patiently waiting to see what you do
for now it is sticks and more sticks which is you,
    ~*~
i believe in the morning i shall buy you a friend
town greenhouse has such a pretty orange rose
ill plant you together on the footpath by the door
oh, victorian rose, please recapture your repose!

The poetess is a keen lover of nature, she being a representative feels herself killer of the rose, the symbol of rose is multi-facet dilemma, we in the pursuit of material gain are crushing the roses, certainly the world where fatal devices are thriving roses are becoming rare, only the poetess laments on the dying species of the roses and all other are ignorant to the encroaching catastrophe. The diction is simple yet it suits to the subject, theme is unusual i.e increasing indifference of humanity to the roses that really make the world a place worth living.
    Love and hugs

Lovely :) It is poems like this that make me want to explore gardening. Flowers are so cheery. An enjoyable read, thank you.
