[hometext] => My second poem about running a bar.
[bodytext] => In grand fashion, I start my day. My coat hangs coolly from my shoulder as I step onto the lot, casting my tall shadow eastward. I pass out ghostly poisons, flavored with nectar and artfully tinctured, adorned with any of many rose and citrus cuts, and succumb nightly to the popular demand for swill at the expense of culture, for escapism as opposed to life. I cheer, I jest, I console, and without fail, I grow weary. I sweep my hand through the room, brushing stragglers and loonies out the door, and unmake the supreme mess they leave behind, resetting all for the next to come. Beneath the smoky moonlight, I am a king, a vampire, a merchant, a hero. Born against fate into hosting the world, in the hour when hosts ought to sleep.
