Dwell in the cycles,
We are frightened to peep,
Peer out of them.
What a strange experience it is!
To journey in the rings,
We stop wherefrom we begin,
Journeying not a single inch,
Like an ox rounding the persian wheel
With the bandage upon the eyes.

When we are trapped in the cycles,
They become the whole universe,
The ensnared spend the whole life,
Amid the troubles,
Deployed around the rings.

It is tragedy of the age, so-called modern,
We all have fixed ourselves,
Our minds and thoughts in the cycles,
And dare not peek out afar,
Into the calamities of others,
Dwelling in other circular zones.

Tragic truth, this. Your last stanza almost exactly echoes recent thoughts of my own. I don't know that it's even necessary to physically broaden our circles (though it certainly wouldn't hurt!), but yes - "ourselves,/Our minds and thoughts" ought be limitless.

Great piece. I enjoyed this!

A well written piece that makes us take a good look at why we are so afraid to take the steps that produce change. Stuck in our own small circle where we think we are safe. What will we think when it is us that we discover are the trapped and helpless??

YOu touched on a subject I seem to be thinking of often these days. We all tend to find a confort zone and limit our true potential in doing so. I think partly out of fear , partly because our world seems so dark and unsafe at times. I appreciated this verse my friend.
