who shed broad tears until he died
day and night, for years he wept,
we wondered when he ever slept!
never knowing from whence he came,
only that he leaked clear shame
cried raw guilt and howled his rage,
Like a beast frustrated by its cage.

no inhibitions or regard,
how can one man cry so hard?
enquires met with snarling moan,
till all left him well alone.
the grieving echoed dark and long,
the chorus of a collective song
a pall so grim we were depressed
by the constant pain of a soul distressed.

disconsolate beyond all care,
he wailed until his heart was bare
and finally, the sadness spent,
died after a long lament.

Silence.

not a falling leaf,
the quietude of sheer relief
the stillness we had long deplored
given back as our reward
lessons learned, we slowed our pace,
revelling in our tranquil grace
all now with eyes made wide,
by the unknown man who cried and cried. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 405 [topic] => 31 [informant] => spike [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 30 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

A very good read. I see a plaque on a park bench that reads...Bench of the Man who cried.
I see that man and wonder what the tears are for..what depth they go to...what broke the spirit. It is a very insightful piece of beauty and compassion for anothers pain.

Deep, well rhymed and fantastically metered, with a great message.

Fabulous Spike, well penned

This, my dear spike, is striking. There is such a melancholy inside the words, and
one that touched me deeply. One wonders, how and why do we continue with sorrow
such as this? I was so lost in this piece and that your rhyming and metre was so
rhythmic, made it all the more easy to absorb and feel intimately.

The message wrought by the bolded text is impossibly profound. I, though, would dearly
hope there is more comfort and peace to be rewarded whilst alive. Exceptional write, S.
Though painful to read, I found my heart wrapped in an impossible overwhelming
emotion and sense of release.

Flawlessly emotive, my friend.

~Breezy
