A reservoir of transcendent truths that haunt us,

A place where the "true self" dwells,

Where the minds under constant spells.

Unconscious repression of traumatic experiences,

Colors of navies and grays, blurred appearances,

Their causal agency in neurotic or psychotic behavior,

Conscious minds own obscure savior.

Distinguished from the conscious mind,

Implausibly obvious to all of mankind,

We are aware of the conscious experience,

But unaware of the unconscious that manipulates us.

Painful repressed memories manifest themselves,

Oceans of traumatic experiences shelled,

In chaotic or exotic behaviors and dreams,

The light of our undesirable past gleams.

One's brain's activity occurs without awareness,

Unable to control ones continuous unfairness,

The unconscious affects behavior and motor action,

More often then not, bringing less than satisfaction.

Consciousness is self-awareness,

Your mind, your senses do caress,

Only the proverbial tip of the iceberg,

Held on by a mass of conscious splurge.

To be unaware of having experienced a phenomenon,

And unable to remember the experience further on.

But still give evidence that one has had the experience,

Memories and visions teetering over the fence.

Dreams, inspirations, love secluded in the unconscious,

Fear, dread, loath stacked neatly next to thus,

Hidden in black from your everyday thoughts,

Unconscious mind released with what your dreams brought.

Although the language of this piece broaches reasoning I feel the poet working out an understanding more through intuition and feeling. I often use poetic license to just get a grip on far flung abstractions trying to coalesce them into working understandings. In this piece I feel and honor that effort here. However 'Unconscious,' Non-Conscious or Autonomic our subtle systems are having a perspective helps us to understand and better improve our behaviors.

Good Job

Peace

Nice poem, and really nice flow. I could just read it all without having to go faster here or there. Really nice
