What happened to that child
She was once the sweetest thing
Now she is so wayward and wild

This child was once so god fearing
And she worked so hard for a living
Now she sells her body on the street
To any man that is willing

She smokes and drinks , and she swears
And shoots needles in her arm
She has no thought of the consequence
That these things will kill or harm

She once was such a pretty girl
Now her face his hollow and sallow
This wayward life is killing her
She is now so uncaring, and shallow

Her once bright eyes are now so dull
She looks ill and her face shows the pain
Where is that child we loved so much

This breaks my heart...there is so much we are powerless over. My son was on the same path and it hurt so deep not to be able to reach him. The only thing I kept telling him was that I knew he had so much to offer life and it hurt to watch him. I just kept telling him I loved him. Now although he is far away geographically...he is living a better life. He just bought a house...I just kept seeing his life change in my mind...until it did. Don't give up.Our children need our last hopes.

Wow, this is heart wrenching. Thank God I was spared from being a hooker but I can tottaly relate to her and I have no doubts that I could find the root of her inner hell in five minetes.
I did a lot of things, I'm not proud of but once my problem bubbled from deep within my life made sense for the first time at 50.
Trust me life changed dramatically one day at a time.
I found my reason buried so deep. It's never to late as long as there's breathe in her body.
A masterpeice and I luv you title.
Keep up the good work as only luv-n-understanding can bring her back.
Big luv, huggs,
emy

Like a lot of your work Sue, vivid in description of the subject matter, and this is no different. Hard hitting, and to the point, as you say, sad but true, but your message comes accross, admirably.

Dearest Sue~
My gosh this is so painfully sad to read my dear friend. You have the incredible abilitly of being able to express what you want to say so well. Your work touches the readers heart deeply and leaves them thinking for a while there after too. You write about the painful truths that surround us in reality everyday so well my dear friend.
A sad, but very well penned poem. Well done Sue~
love n hugs,
sue m
