I tried to write it bitter,
what life is all about
but I couldn't believe it either,
when something beautiful came out

sometimes you try your hardest
to be dark and full of bile,
when love and compassion
have been there all the while
you protest and you struggle
against the peace within
but there you are, at your best
happy in your skin

where is all the anger
the jealousy and rage?
the black, capricious hunger
to spill upon the page
I've dredged up darkest memories,
drawing on my pain
but smiles and gentle whimsies
rise and rise again

I tried to write it bitter,
what life is all about
but I couldn't believe it either,
when something beautiful came out. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 298 [topic] => 21 [informant] => spike [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

this is wonderful, spike! when we sit down to write about something painful or about how angry we are and something beautiful instead comes out, it shows just how truly resilient our spirits are. i love this poem, it is inspiring. thanks for posting!

Omigosh!!! lol Spike .. this is INCREDIBLE!! (Do poets have some sort of mental telepathic
connection?? ) You know, snemmy and I were discussing this very thing. About wanting
to write of sorrow, or pain, or whatever anguished emotion you might be wanting to
express and then the work always, somehow ending , oh, so hopeful. (side-bar
to snems, who I hope reads this: *shaking fist in air* "damn you angel of hope") lol

ahem .. but seriously S, this is so akin to my own struggles of expression. And I call them
struggles here, only because of my own suffering at not being able to fully get out the
pain of an emotion, but instead having all this incessant hope. (damn it all anyway. lol)
I have dark writes out there, but even the darkest of my writes could ne'er touch the pit
of despair or pain that I have been introduced to at one time or another ~

I love that you posted this, because it really stimulates us as poets to embrace each
other all the more. Great work here, dear poet. And so nice to see you back. You've
been away far too long! ;)

Exceptional, as always ..

~Breezy

Typically people pay a bit more for such delights and in truly the journey made delivers quite a beauty of truth.

I like the open/close symmetry. Quite excellent.

Peace
Yang
