Haunted by the long lost voice~

of her own unsung lullabys

She gives chance free reign over choice~

as away from life she shys...

No fear lies in her of dying~

deaths self, a mystical muse

Beyond this temporal plane flying~

her mind trys to itself lose...

Yet the plaintive echos survive~

& from her want, she's drawn back

To her earth~bound self, still alive~

& under, "realities" attack...

Forced to in this world linger on~

for not come, has her turn to die

Left crooning to herself, while yet she longs~

for her still unsung lullaby...

You have this unique poetic voice here a sad minstrel rhythm that had me revive:

"Meeting you at your parents’ gate
We will tell you what to do
What you have to do
to survive.

Leave the rotten towns
of your father
Leave the poisoned wells
& bloodstained streets
Enter now the sweet forest" –Jim Morrison, “The Crossroads”

Here is to a time for every place in the heart.

Blessings

Peace
AJ

I could imagine;
the soft humming though yet unsung - wish I too was a child to hear you sing. lay down my weary head for dreams to swing.

lovely poem... you are out sanding I must say my friend.

Your poem expresses your desire to leave the realm of reality and travel to the place of your comfort. I would not call it escapism... only, a desire for a better life.

I am sure that all of us feel that way at some point of ime or the other. Your poem captures that sense so beautifully, and it flows without effort. Great piece of writing!

I'm sad to say I share this sorrow too, and I'm sorry to read of someone else in the same boat... You penned this sombre piece so beautifully though; I love your choice of wording, and your style of format. This piece is haunting in its meaning; truly.
