I stand in front of the window of my life
And wait for your image to appear before my eyes
Too many people flood my view
And not a single flash of your face
Dares to enter this situation not now

On the far horizon the sun sets
The masses drain away through voids
After a while an image starts forming
You enter through the front door
And walk straight toward the window

Unlike all the other people
You are able to see beyond the glass
You stare into my eyes and see
What is burning inside my heart
Yet you just keep looking then stop

As if by magic the window dims
And my image vanishes from your vision
You turn your head and look for the door
People start entering again and somewhere
The first ray of light destroys all hope

Another day passes without your presence
My soul starts crumbling boundaries form
The window is still there between you and me
And when the final light dissipates again
Glass is still the only barrier

In the dark your figure comes closer
Again you stare through my eyes
And I wonder do you see my pain
As the thousandth night passes
You speak for the first time "I can't"

I study your perfect face it speaks of experience
Yet every night seems to negate this
And you defy all your principles all your reason
Because normally I grow from the inside out
But tonight I grow from the outside to within

Time passes stationary for an eternity
Then you speak again "I can't help you"
Your voice swells in my head and I ask "Why?"
Your answer shatters the glass "I just can't"
And as you walk away again I seem to see why
"I understand"
You turn around and your eyes shed a tear
Then you walk on and I know only one thing
I understand.

II. Death

Battles are won and lost time passes
The war slowly comes to a standstill
Barriers lie demolished and crushed
Silence marks every lifeless movement
And the remnants cry for salvation

As the sun rises over the battlefield
And warms the forlorn souls
Which have survived the terror
You enter the room again
And walk over to the cold window

The splinters strewn across the floor
Make your first vision one of shock
And you wonder what happened
The barrier is torn down has surrendered
Apparently a surprise you hadn't expected

Through the shattered glass you look
And search for the person once behind it
The emptiness relays the feeling
Of struggle and anguish covered in pain
Yet only a void remains among the debris

Turning around you look into my eyes
Your emotions more tearful than ever
"What happened?" you ask
But no answer awaits your question
As the desolation narrows our views

I lose myself in your deep eyes
And search for the long awaited truth
What I find is the anguish I once concealed
And your soul begging for support
Still you stare and wait for an answer

"I can't" are my words after a while
You wait then reply "Why?"
The gray barren sky closes in on us
And pleads for me to answer
"I just can't" is all I can say I don't know why

The pause strangles my thoughts
And anything I think about is everything
I see the torment on your face
Tearing away at every barrier it meets
Yet the path is still strewn with interference
"What happened?" You beg again
Now I know I can respond "You gave me hope"
And as you walk towards me I know only one thing
You give me hope. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 155 [topic] => 48 [informant] => psyonara [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
