I sit near the window and watch a bird fly
I think about you time after time
You made me laugh when I would cry
You made cookies and apple pie

I wanted to teach you so much more
But I know you’re old enough to do it alone
I didn't want to see you go
My heart stopped when you walked out the door

Remember how we sang off tune,
Or laughed when I tickled you?
Remember our old carving tree?
How about the autumn leaves?

I remember how you sat by me
We read books until you were fourteen
By the way, I still can't find my favorite pen
Oh how I miss my best friend

I wish you were back home with me

I hope one of my children write a poem like that. Touching and full of a heartful of memories. Nicely presented

This is a beautiful reflection.
Your tones of home sound so caressing.
