Laughter and smiles
Secret glances
He was my beautiful lie

Hair of reddest sunset
Eyes midsummer blue
Charming and beguiling
He was my beautiful lie

Color photos
Silly faces
Still frames in my mind
He was my beautiful lie

For always in the background
Was that evil little thought
“I am second best”
He was my beautiful lie

A wife at home
No love for me
And how it broke my heart
He was my beautiful lie

How do you tell a heart to stop loving?
How do you stop the pain?
With beautiful lies
He was my beautiful lie

You have an excellent gift for capturing emotion. I get a sense of this beautiful
summer surface of happiness that is
stretched thin over this hidden despair
of a vulnerable person who wants only
to be loved. Want I find very interesting is
that in your last poem you had a man becoming the lie and in this one you have a
women who has this person who is her
beautiful lie. You are a very interesting writer
and I enjoyed this poem very much. Truly , Doug

A song to face the ugly lies we tell ourselves as we trick ourselves in degrees. So glad you posted this as an expression in the past: "He was my beautiful lie..."
As there is some measure of getting over the pain of loving someone who does not return it.

Well Done

Peace
Yangdantien
