By the final struggling light~

of her last candle near spent

Furiously on she writes~

unto one purpose alone bent...

Still, further encroaches the night~

caring naught for her consent

Stealing away her sight~

as if out from her eyes rent...

Opening her mouth to protest~

giving voice unto her rage

" Black & vile, no moon by blessed~

thief of my pen from this page...

By your evil, I'll not be best~

nor in this dark hell be caged

For rise will he, who set in the west~

& take back from you heavens stage..."

Any of you who've ever experienced living w/o electricity & had a great thought that wouldn't wait...well, you might relate to this frustration & those who haven't...this might help you imagine? lol! In this heartfelt write you reveal the profound depth of your experience with loss manifested sightlessness. However; Nyctalopia has a distinguished place in history as a "...cause of night blindness is a deficiency of retinol, or vitamin A, found in fish oils, liver and dairy products. In the Second World War, pilots flying night missions were encouraged to eat plenty of carrots, which contain carotenoids and can be converted into retinol. This was also done to help hide the secret of radar from the general public."
Lastly your piece invoked a response that just spilled from my lips:
"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference."

Thank You

Peace
AJ

Well...ummm in the past I've had times without electricity. Total bummer trying to read and write by candlelight or oil lamp. Also when we've been at fesitvals/shows camping, a flashlight in a tent can be real aggravating when some spillage needs to come. Campfire light casts loads of shadows, as well (Good for telling stories though). LOL Thank you for sharing.
Peace and hugs,
Laura

My sweet MissyMe~
Yes I have had times with no electricity when I was visiting family overseas. I gotta say my mind went into panic mode, but after a while I calmed down and got used to it. It was like a daily ritual, electricity one minute and then none the other.
Through your amazing poetry and its depth you reach out to your reader and you give them a taste of what you have experienced~
You're a talented & gifted writer my sweet Moon Maiden. Thank you so much for sharing with us your wonderful poetry~
Shine bright my sweet lady.
love from ur fan/friend,

I think your idea is original and well written.
I've spent some time without electricity on
more than one occasion and it is indeed
quite frustrating to try get things done in the dark. What was it that one great poet wrote.
Rage... rage against the dying of the light.
Great work. Truly , Doug

Eighteen years without electricity, but the ol' solar 'n' generator ruined it all 'bout twelve years ago. Although I can relate to your piece intimately, I love capturing moments by lantern light ... 'n' I eat lots o' carrots. Fantastic work, Missy.

I feel this in the marrow of my bones, i feel the warmt of a blanket and the cold of a room and the overwhelming intrusion of unwanted but badly needed sleep. my eyes half closed and yet my heart skiping a beat fighting to stay awake in the wee hours of the morning this is perfection, and more than enough to effect my emotions. I see you i hear you i feel you, in all of your your artistic magnificence.
what a beautiful work.
