You know
I hope my dear, you're not serious
I'm optimistic that you're
just joshing around
You don't think I believe
this crap
you been spreading
and thumping around town
{you trying to ruffle me up? Won't work}

~~she looks in the mirror, You talkin to me?~~

I hear the whispers coming
from
behind the propped open
doors
I hear the nastiness
they're breathing out
Calling me to engage in
their wars
{no I shant back down. I'm stubborn}

~~speaking to yourself?, It's okay as long as you don't answer~~

I get to where I see
myself
looking from another
view
I don't like the anger I feel
it's too human to do
You throw rocks at me
wicked names too
it's the barbed words
that hurt the most
rendering me askew
{self-flagellation...that your rule?}

~~you sweets are your worst enemy, me thinks~~

Low tolerance
is that what this is?
Preach 'bout peace
while I'm shaken
my big damn fist
Slow down look closely
as to who you are
angered;peaceful
shhhhhh.....human;bizarre
{maybe you should quiet your mind?}

~~oh now, like that's a feasible task~~

It took thousands and thousands
of years
in the making
to create
this tortured soul
I refuse to lay down easily
The war continues
in my mind
This heart burns with a passion
never to get cold
{stab them with the words}

~~poetry is your madness~~

Editor's note: This piece was inspired by my poetic sister Kerry Lynne "Misfitme", who made some very good points in a
comment she'd given me. Sometimes I forget that I myself need to practice the art of peace. I tend to
take much that happens to our planet to heart, I get angry, I feel depressed. Feelings of negativity
though lead only to negativity. I've thought long and hard about this "war" which brews within me.
My poetry shall reflect the madness and the soul shall gain some peace in doing so, me thinks.

Laura .. my sweet sis .. this is (for lack of a better word), just
brilliant. Believe me when I say, I wish I'd written this. It is
those inner demons that sometimes control us, no? But that
you had the sense (and bravery) to actually write about it, and
place it here for us, is .. inspiring, my friend. I have always
admired you, my little deadhead, but today, I am exceptionally
proud of you too. (an emotion I am inclined to feel, most times
I visit your pages, but today it HAD to be said).

I love this piece, hun. LOVE it !!!

I raise a glass of great cheer...

" To all Good Women of Reason & Love ! " may we never thrist...lol
I am so incredibly honored & in turn would like to share my favorite quote on, 'good&evil' which might shed some light on my toast to you...

In Kahlil Gibran's writings, the prophet replies, in answer to a question about Evil, " Of the Good in you I can speak, but not of the Evil. For what is Evil but Good...tortured by its own hunger & thirst? When Good is hungry, it seeks food, even in dark caves, and when it thirsts, it drinks even of dead waters. "

Self~exploration, I love it & I love you, my poetsis!Great job!

Big love~Misfit'KerryLynne'Me...

An excellent write. A true glimpse of the internal tug-of-war we all skirt. The fine line between genius and madness is present. This also rings the bell of the principal of parsimony for me.

Bravo

Hey you, I really got into this. Because I actually understood it. Believe you me in my limited years here on earth so far I feel I have gained a rather large experience with self contradiction so this poem fit right in with my understandings of life so far. Not to mention I am the ever-ending and recycling Jasmini [my gemini self], so these feelings come easily to me with all the aspects I see in this life that seem to want to lead me in all different directions! My favorite part:
"Slow down look closely
as to who you are
angered;peaceful
shhhhhh.....human;bizarre
{maybe you should quiet your mind?}"
I understand all to well within my experience. And it's rather radical that my mum brought this to mind for you. She tends to do that to people, she has a real talent for making people step back and take a serious look at themselves and their reasons for 'doing'.

Keep writing my lovely deadhead sister...

My God, I can relate!!! I love the line "shhhhhh.....human; bizarre" why do we feel the need to hide the fact that we really are all crazy? I mean, the world is so mad, how can anyone be sane! and I know what you mean about trying (and generally failing) to hush your thoughts... it's what poems are for, working out all those demons... Not been around in awhile, but your work is always constant... constantly brilliant!

Laura,

if you can't keep the skeletons in the closet, make em dance............

a great and honest write. We're only a few neurons from the red raw centre of our instinct. Striving to be better is the only human task that is meaningful on an existential scale, and I can feel your goodness radiating from your poetry.

WOW!!! I wonder if you know just how awesome this piece is. such truth & enlightenment. as i read each word i felt myself wanting to go look in the mirror because it seems you were writing this about me instead of yourself . what's so weird is that you don't even know me. could it be that we are kindred spirits? the madness within me sneaks out when i don't want it to. applause and i raise a glass in your honor for such fine quality writing.

I just love the honesty of this piece.
Self-flagellation?..Yep
Poetry is my madness?...You bet
But we've gotta get in there and mix it up.
Well done! DHP,
