Array ( [sid] => 131028 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Reminiscing [time] => 2007-01-26 11:28:51 [hometext] => About someone I grew up with and fell in love with for my entire childhood. He took the boy next door to that extra level. I miss him dearly but I have never told him how I feel. Please post feedback. very much appreciated. x [bodytext] => Now I find myself thinking of how it used to be
I wish and hope and dream away the time I have for me.
I think of all the hours, which I spent in love with you
And yet you still don’t realise that those feelings were more true,
Than those of any other girl who you loved and threw away
Who I watched and loathed yet envied,
As she came to take you from me.

I remember all the evenings whether summer, winter, spring,
We would stand and talk for hours not caring for a thing.
I could shiver, shake and tremble, and you’d think it was the cold
But deep inside I knew it was you, I just couldn’t be so bold,
As to tell you how it hurt me when you said you had to go
I was merely your little Katherine,
Whose feelings she could not show.

But that summer when you held me and you showed me all the stars
You’d have thought we were the same age; not five years apart.
I grew up with you near me, spending years with you so close
I wish I could have had you, for one day to call my own,
But now I know you’re leaving and I’ll be left here all alone;
Staying, thinking, dreaming,
Of those summers at our childhood home.

How very sweet and heartfelt....

I hope one day your Prince comes to whisk you away and then you can have those memories as just that .... memories

Good luck
Dee xx

Hiya, this poem is so sweet and melancholic. I like the similarity of the form of the poem in each of the three stanzas and the repetition of feelings in groups of three 'watched and loathed, yet envied', 'shiver, shake and tremble' and 'staying, thinking, dreaming'. Nicely put together,

Dom
