The deafening silence brings blood to the ears,
The toxic stench of polish burns the nose,
The cold empty tables destroys the touch,
The frowning faces throw daggers at the heart,
The dim gray lighting pain the spirit,
The meaningless books encloses the mind,
This my prison,
My sentence for the crime of wanting to learn,
There shall be no escaping the coffin,
As it brings me under with my eyes open to darkness,
This may be the end of me,
Yet as long as I hold a pen,
Running it across the paper sands sparks of light,
Perhaps some life it may contain,
If not at least a memory of a fool left behind,
That may not mean a thing,
Yet there is shall be,
Words on a page left to live.

..early shades of Walt Whitman
..the great tempo and wonderful metaphoric view-

..I know that there are so many out there who won't appreciate this work for what it really is Alison.. save for the many prudent comments..

but be that as it may, know that this is brilliant-
just a wonderful piece..

..stanzas 7 through 10 are great.. well written~
great work~

Truly,

B
