What it was
And how they might find it.
‘Over the next hill’,
I told them.
‘Through the woods
And in the field on your right
You might find it.’

Naturally they got lost
In its shifting pathways, maybe,
Or in the festering marshland
Guarding it like a chained dog.

It is a thing to be stumbled upon.
Honeysuckle on a summer breeze,
Luscious springing green grass,
The still blue pool.

Search for it ‘til the cuckoo wakes you up.
But turn your back. Forget.
Just.
Briefly.
Then realise and smile
Before you fall through the splintered floor.

Loved the way you wrote this.
I can smell the honeysuckle.

I do agree we all search for it but I have come to learn that it begins from within.
The search begins with each of us.

Happiness can be found in the smallest things in this life.

I feel very peaceful after I read this, I believed every word of it.

it's different for everybody, one person's happiness is not another's, and I agree that they are the little things strung together that release true happiness, and it's the people you are with, the things you are doing, how you and they are feeling, add that all together and you'll have something like happiness.

Sincerely
Ash

I have to agree with this, and maybe the harder we look the distant it gets.
great write. Vincent
