The melodies you create
are beautiful and intricate,
yet they break along uncertain edges
and falter when the notes are too high.

My heaven did not make you.

My miniature Beethoven,
who counts his days in treble clefs and
who writes in E minor
and sings fortissimo at the crack of dawn,
Cara, your eyes are sad with hunger
for a beauty you cannot compose.

You seek inspiration
as it floats through walls,
never once still, haunting these museum halls.

I would be Botticelli for you
if only I could paint. But all of me
is all I have.
It seems can never offer you enough

I immediately dropped 5 stars on this... and absolutely intended to immediately then leave a comment. But, alas, I've been here on this page for a long while now and I swear you've left me speechless.

Oh, Kei.... this is utterly brilliant. I adore it entirely. And I adore you for it. Oh, that I could find something so extraordinary every time I so desperately want and need to!! What a gift you have offered us! Thank you, hun!!

(I sooo wish I could comment well... comment on it.... but truly, I haven't words enough to do so)

Please Kei.... Do not ever stop writing.

Your fan,
~Snemmy

Full of emotion and vivid language. It's a great piece you've brought to us here. I like the art imagery and the tenderness of the Irish 'cara'.

Well done.

Beautiful and so poignently sad, as affairs of the heart can be - why can't this sometimes just be enough?

So very frustrating when what they crave is not what is in your capacity to give. A lovely, lovely poem.

oh my dearest kie ... I get this. I do.

Impossibly sad. Ambition is sometimes our mortal enemy ..
sending us in search of aspirations far above and
beyond that which we can attain .. never realizing
all we have .. all we need .. is right in front of our eyes ..

and this .. this is what saddens me about the
direction in which the world is headed. Is it ever
possible for a human heart to have, just "enough"?

"It seems can never offer you enough"

indeed~

Bravo poet.

Hey Kei~

(at the risk of sounding insistent and repetitious)
this piece was extrememly well written luv-
many would also appreciate your reference to
Botticelli and its relative metaphoric value to your sentiments there, in the final stanza..

his vivid array and use of color is brilliant..
(perhaps, an example of great minds thinking alike)

: )

exquisite
