water balloons

Contributed by roisin on Thursday, 20th February 2003 @ 06:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

do you remember.....
when "war" was a card game
and water balloons the ultimate weapon?
when decisions were made by saying
eany, meany, miney, mo
and when all the big money issues were handled by the banker in the game of monopoly?

once...
had you really believed in the dream of utopia
perfect order
harmony
justice
decency
and the promise of happily ever after....

instead you awoke to the nightmare world of
self-indulgence and greed
materialistic bliss
decadent hyprocrisy
depraved corruption
moral bankruptcy

....but maybe, all along this was the true realization of your dream?

what say you now
this question of peace
shall you speak out or stifle yourself?

in dream, nightmare or oblivion
your choice

this is very good, rosie. great job. oh how things used to be when we were young, everything so innocent. when the tide of corruption comes lapping at your feet, sweeping all people and belongings away, can you resist? beyond token objections? sometimes i just don't like to think about it. think i'll choose oblivion.
