Play a song my guitar man,
Pick a song for me,
Fill my mind with endless notions,
Play a song, make free.
Play a song my guitar man,
Make it fair and long and wide,
Make is stretch the Nullabor
Through crisp, gold country side.
Play a song my guitar man,
Make it hollow, play it deep
From below all depth shall it float,
Airy, dense, free.
Play a song my guitar man,
Play upon my string,
Don't read your music, no book, no note.
From depths of hear, your music bring.
Play upon my string guitar man,
Not rough but steadily.
Tenderly pick my guitar,
Play a song for me.
