A bemused young man, sleeping away his troubles,

And a life crumbling into infinite rubble.
He caught a glimpse of an immense fortress
in the frigid wastelands of his mind;

Images that make his thoughts go blind.

Thoughts of a ruined nirvana in a distant domain,

The only thing that was keeping him sane.

He saw a time when he had no blood on his hands, and never would.

A time when the world elapsed; left him right where he stood.

When the violence of hatred and mistrust,
the temptation of moral compromise, and verbal thrust,

Could no more overcome him, as formerly done,
than a droplet of water could conquer the sun.

But then the memory slipped away,

Like the dream it was; a purple haze.

Thank You for this write an expression of an internal struggle and one suspects it is from the view of having 'blood on the hands' a stain that is rarely given voice but through dream elements one can perceive its effect:s:

"...When the violence of hatred and mistrust,
the temptation of moral compromise, and verbal thrust,

Could no more overcome him, as formerly done,
than a droplet of water could conquer the sun...."

Lasso that memory till the fog of dreaming lifts...

Good Job

Peace

Lucid purple haze...
Yes, almost everyday, here.
My days are hypnopompic.
Paramnesia is suicide inside the oasis.

And yes,
Sleep brings release.

I adore this:
"Could no more overcome him, as formerly done,
than a droplet of water could conquer the sun."

Gorgeous!
