And yes I feel so sad I say,
For memories like a flowing brook,
Flow through my mind, and I look,

To days gone by, better days,
Happy moments, they were I say,
But grief like a knife in my heart,
Caused me pain when we had to part,

Another time, another place,
Your company, Your friendly face,
Your love it was mine and mine alone,
My heart still aching, I am on my own,

So New Year is just a whisper away,
I make resolutions, and I pray,
That I can somehow , start anew,
With someone kind just like you,

So here I sit champagne in hand,
Join the celebration, take a stand,
Believe I can ,Believe i may,
Be happy in 2007 I say,

So Happy New Year to all of you,
See out the old , bring in the new,
I am ok, I will be fine,
This year It may well just be mine, [comments] => 9 [counter] => 346 [topic] => 32 [informant] => jerseysue [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Another Year Another day,
And yes I feel so sad I say,
For memories like a flowing brook,
Flow through my mind, and I look,

Happy New Year, Sue. The countdown to the new year is a time of realization of what was and wasn't done/achieved, etc. But as your poem demonstrates, hope springs eternal in the human psyche. Good luck with your resolutions and ambitions for 2007.

regards,

S

Oh Sue, I'm so glad to have found this write, tonight.
Excellent resolve, dear poet. May all your desires
manifest in 2007. There is always, and forever, hope.

Happy New Year to you, Sue.

I am, admittedly, late to this page.... my apologies, Sue. (I've not been overly interactive as of late).

Ah, yes... the turning of the calendar page, the dawn of a new year... it is a moment, I agree, that merits consideration. Even more so for a poet than any other, I think.

There will always be, I believe, moments that we wish to hold on to as we move forward with Time. And, too, the hope that comes of the future's possibilities. It seems, now, so very simple and so insanely clear... but I know, too, that if I had commented here on 12/31 instead of today... I would not have felt the same. And.. had I been able to pen a New Year's Eve write (I couldn't)... I, too, would have dropped it in the category that you set this in. Everything just seems more impactful on the cusp of a new year.

I wish you the very best in 2007! Here's hoping you're inclined to select a different category for your next New Year's Eve post. : )
