[bodytext] => Peaceful slumber escapes me,
Wracked with thoughts of death,
The mind seeks a place to rest,
Dreams offer no respite.

Sleep I crave, yet I flee,
Between each heart beat and breath,
I sense I ride upon the wave’s crest,
Seeing gentle sleep just in sight.

Pacing, sighing as the hours pass,
Driven by compulsion to reflect,
Emotionless and weary,
Life seems such a burdensome gift

The mirror becomes more than a looking glass,
The inner turmoil is suspect,
Solutions come but can’t be hurried,
Sleep will come when eyelids no longer lift.
