( Author's Note: Six moths ago I wrote "Small", the voice I heard, the music, the style ... returned and offered this )

I could be
more than I am
but would things ever
be the same again?
This life I lead
is killing me
and I’m not convinced
this is my destiny ~

( tempo change )

I am the son of the son of
the man who came before
who left his life behind
to settle on these foreign shores
and the store he left my father
will one day be left for me
and I am not convinced
I want his legacy

This is the land of opportunity
and I hear that it awaits
for the man who’s not afraid to stand
who’s willing to tempt fate
I appreciate my family
and everything they’ve given me
still, I’m not convinced
I want this destiny

I cannot escape this feeling
somehow I was meant for different things
I have music in my blood
and I can hear the melodies
of the rain upon the rooftops
the winds blowing through the eaves
God, I hope that’s what
You have in mind for me

( tempo change )

Where do dreams
go when they’re dead
and it seems no-one’s heard
a single word you’ve said?
My life was planned
from infancy
I can’t believe that this
must be my destiny ~

( tempo change )

You don’t have to let me go
you just have to let me be
I am sure by now you know
I’m not content to live your dreams
I can hear my future calling
more each day with urgency ~

( tempo change )

If my life is truly mine to live
won’t you please just set me free?

Now I can be
more than I am
and nothing’s ever
going to be
the same again ~

~ Nazmythian ~

There is a time in everyone's life when they say " This, is the path I must take." It seems your time is near. I really like this one my friend. Thought provoking and very well written.

Barkeep!! Keep 'em coming

Naz, I hope your destiny is to make the music to emphasize the lyrics of your mind. Your poetry, it seems, strikes the chords of reason, hope and ... yes destiny! A magnificent write, my friend. Happy and prosperous new year to you ... for us!

This is talent shining at its best. Would love to hear it put to notes .

I also hope it doesn't take another six months. Am awaiting another.

I guess you have power back again??

who has missed you and kept you in her thoughts and heart.

awesome write! destiny is a funny thing... one wonders if it can actually be manipulated, or if any attempt at such a manipulation was all part of 'destiny' to begin with...

nicely done,

Snazzy .. this was so amazing and close to my very own
heart. Hun, I am astounded with most of your writes, but this
one in particular silently screams to me ..

Destiny .. it's such a strange concept, no? I have come
to believe we are indeed fated to travel a certain path
and to fight it, once you've realized it, is an exercise in futility.
Embrace what you KNOW is yours ..

(words I can and DO live by)

*hugs and stuffages*
LOVE this write, btw .. lol

I hate when destiny shows its face. I personally don't want mine [to an extent]. But what would life be without this yearning to do something amazing? Better a destiny than not. I hope you're very successful.

Nazzy~ A thought provoking and excellently penned song lyrics. You are a very talented poet gifted with such an extraordinary flare with a pen. Destiny does one really know what it holds for us? I loved this Nazzy, very well composed.

This piece reminds me to never let anything or anyone hold me back. My dreams will be mine and never ruled by anyone else. Sometimes the flight has to be solo.A great write my friend filled with inner wisdom.
