Array ( [sid] => 129687 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => YPDC Menagerie [time] => 2006-12-22 02:48:03 [hometext] => A tribute to those here and gone who have commented on my first 50 posts (and a few others). Lose yourself, find yourself…… [bodytext] => Here’s the story of the year
so many stars are rising here
dark plaid babes, queens and dollies
strange girls and little pixies
Prisses, Marisas, Jills and Janes
ladies singing across the plains
and pretty fairies, flying low
hearts and talent out for show
mirror names bent on destruction
reflect an elegant construction
focus girls, be ambitious
your mere presence is delicious!

And lets introduce the blokes
alpha males, hotrods, most
(gunning to be first to post)
cowboys, seers, butch and proud
princes hollering long and loud
and Larry, Larry what’s with the flowers?
laid at our feet during the wee hours
so that every rose will have its bloom
even in a dry chat room.

From near and far so many are drawn
tainted souls and island born
entitis dropping in from high
or strange locales like Kie-Kie
the US, UK, Oz and the Cape
all here jonesing to escape
odd little places, familiar still
like the picture-perfect Shelbyville
a lotus wafts in from Nirvana
and just how blue is Carolina?

Creatures here, from magic born
wolfareens and lady fawn
lemmens jump and wild Johnnies flock
bears do growl while short chicks rock!
blowfish pout as thumping bunnis
make friends with neon huskies
sharks rip and dolphins weep
as loving critters lie down to sleep
the barn finches forever chattering
their staple praise slim, but flattering.

So many offspring are given birth
the laboured fruits from well-tilled earth
precious things, laced in rhyme
if only for brief moments in time
Progeny from the very start
speaking the words of the heart
stanzas reading more like lyrics
tears and awe and wild hysterics
potent brews of thought and verse
ensconced in this strange universe
where poets share a daily diet
their avarice, a riot
just a little wray of light
is all we need to bring delight
but when the muse is close to dry
feed them all your pumpkin pie!

Liars, lovers, traitors, schemers
there will always be eternal dreamers
dwelling on thoughts nazthmythian
lost in themselves, labyrinthian
weavers of words, this lot
we are the audience to their plot
where wizard spells of fionedruinne
can crown you king or bring down ruin
I sup the waters to quench my thirst
and think, of all the gods here, Neptune’s first.

‘Comments, please’ are sometimes tragic
occasionally harsh or monosyllabic
falling in silence or joking
while other spikes leave you schmoking
the forums forays can be frightening
the skyline crackling with white lightening
where shadow people wear the skins
of angels just to hide their sins
sharing dirty little secrets
devoid of shame or cheap regrets.

When I’m suicidal, racked with doubt
sometimes my eyes are just cried out
hits may trickle and posts do flood
yet we are poets of kindred blood
sometimes our pleas go unheard
but all pay homage to the Word
where a virtual stitch in time
saves essentially, nein.

While this world can seem so mean
there is life beyond the glowing screen
a dawn zephyr, a gentle tease
awaits within the autumn breeze
even barbs of sheer disdain are
washed away by plain fresh rain
so with my last breath I rejoice, for
here the mute will find their voice
and like the poets I adore
I am silent, no more.

Holy schmokes!!! (*grins*), Spikito - you sure did stuff a lot in there! I'm quite delighted to discover 'no more' there at the end (truth be told I've been wondering where it went, you know?). Seriously, though... this is a treat and you, dear poet, are a doll.

Oh and.... I'm so glad that you are. : )
