Shaking back the unruly curls~

from before eyes that would nothing miss

Taking care not to appear the girl~

whose anger & outrage had been dismissed...

How dare she be forbidden to fight~

in the name of what they all held so dear

For none had more than she the right~

or because of shed as many tears...

Battered by the elements she stood~

side by side with others who'd taken arms

Forsaking their shelter in the woods~

where they'd sought to hide & not raise alarm...

Morning was greeted with weapons drawn~

unbeknownst to those against they'd be swung

The stench of blood & death stained the dawn~

relished by those who on this day had won...

And with their victory to her came~

the irrelevance of vengence served

Not that for her part in, had she shame~

their enemy was dealt with as deserved...

Still no lighter had become her heart~

although she had helped to right a grave wrong

Heading back towards where from she start~

questioning where it was that she belonged...

Night settled over lands again hers~

bringing with it memories turned nightmare

From this darkness would she ever stir~

or would it be hers to forever bare...

Kerry, You are quite the story teller. I have to say once again, I have been drawn deeply into Kerry's world....and I like it. I oft wonder if you are lucky enough to remember past lives. You seem to tell these stories as if you, yourself once lived them. Fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Peace and hugs,
Laura

Once again your pen flows into dreams both remembered and channeled.

I hope to see its conclusion soon..

Peace
