no turning back once we've begun
The rape we started in years gone by
is now the reason so many die
The greed and hate we grew in haste
have lain your body, now filled with waste
We reap the sorrows that we have sown
and ignored the signs that you have shown
With blinded eyes we've turned our backs
to unhealed scars from where you've cracked
and left your wounds to fester and bleed
while we filled our pockets with selfish deed
And now we wonder, just what's going on
and still deny that we've been wrong
Oh mother dear is it to late
to change our ways, and stay our fate
to undo years of damage done
to clear our skies where shines the sun
to clean the waters from which we drink
and change the way in which we think
Oh mother dear it's in our hands
to stop the hurt and heal our lands
to take the time to look and see
what our world is suppose to be

Amen. Wish we could do a better job of taking care of Mother Earth than we are doing.
We'll just keep doing what we can here.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
