Some say you did not win, but lo! - you did !
For men and heavenly spirits root for you,
You are magnificent, delight, - a treat
Before the eyes of Our Father too.

Gallant in your endurance limitless,
You charm the hearts that look to you with awe,
And heaven sees you as victorious, -
You never did from sacrifice withdraw.

Loyal to the adopted strategy,
With dreams and fancies shorn and sacrificed,
Your work accomplished with fidelity,
Obedient to death alike the Christ.

Your bravery, your soldierly noblesse
Are shinning ere the world as a bright star,
Bow to the fighting men and women, bless
Who fights for justice's sake a bitter war.

The people call you "The Magnificent",
That fight for values in an alien land,
Where evil men defile their faith and creed,
While treacherous forces exit from the pit.

"Gaudemus Sunday" is today, - our liturgy
Bids us rejoicing always and be glad,
And glad we are indeed for we are free,
Thanks to the braves in soldiers' garments clad.

Be glad you too, your names are in the scroll
That holds the unsung names to be made known,
Rejoyce then will your spirit and your soul,
When you receive the well deserved crown.

Meanwhile we bow to you with thankfulness,
For the great sacrifices that you bring,
And pray that God may in abundance bless
Your efforts that make cherubinos sing.

May Christmas joy fill your staunch hero hearts,
With peace that only Christ can give, - HIS peace,
Despite the fiendish bombers and their darts,
He is with you, with you, the one "THAT IS".

A lovely tribute and I think you should find a way to get this over to them and give them some encouragement.

Absolutely beautiful tribute. I agree, somehow, our troops should see it. I am eternally grateful for their continuous sacrifices.
