the kind that carried a picture inside
An image of a boy, brave and young,
their love as sure as the evening tide

A promise made that he'd return one day
their time together could be the last
He kissed her lips one final time
then boarded a ship with a tall oak mast

She waited each day down by the pier
with a lover's hope that he'd come home
Searching the silent sea relentlessly
her days spent quietly watching, alone

There came a day in lands far away
when a hard fought battle was won
A young boy's life ebbed where he lay
under smoke filled skies and setting sun

She'll cry for the boy who'll never return
for the promise that they'd never part
She'll miss the love they shared together
still wearing the locket close to her heart... [comments] => 7 [counter] => 294 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Saloni [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Oh my sweet angel friend Saloni~ I had tears in my eyes. It pains my heart to read such a tragic story of a lost love. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims & families of victims of war~ To all our soldiers out there may you come back safely home to where you rightfully belong with your family & friends~
A heart breaking write filled with emotions that pull at the heart strings. Well done my angel friend.
much love, hugs n prayers,
sue m
