The daughter you raised has become a blur.

Drown by hurt, constant dustups and lies,
Acting like it’s she who you despise.

Really the one that you hate is yourself,
Your demeanor is why she wants to kill herself.

She is the your biggest regret,
You’ll never allow her to forget.

She screwed up your life, kept you from living it,
Is that what you still think when her wrists are slit?

Did you really mean to always be so cold?
How will you feel when she dies at 23 years old?

How hard did you work to know your daughter?
Did you love her at all come hell or high water?

Somewhere deep inside your sick and twisted heart,
Did you suspect she’d made self mutilation into an art?

Did you intentionally hold her face down under the tears?
Has her suicide been your goal for all these years?

Never pushing her to exceed your own sob story,
Were you working towards an end so soon and gory?

Always trying to make everything appear nice and neat,
What’ll happen when they find out you’re full of deceit.

So in the time when she’s long expired,
Will you wonder where in her death you were mired?

This poem is very powerful. One has to be careful in managing their own emotions, lest they play out in their loved ones with a lethal outcome. A very good write!
