So here we go, Longing to be a Legend part I. [bodytext] => Once upon, "Happily Ever~After..."

there lived the beginning of all stories

Where from every adventure first unfolds~

revealing an end, reached only through glory...

While legend favors that which embodies~

the brave, beautiful, gallant & loyal

Still within oral tradition has survived~

the meek, derelict & far from royal...

About just such unlikely company~

to my pens fallen the task of a tale

And thus now, I have to paper plied it~

seeking justice for that which legends failed...

Just how many they numbered is unsure~

accounted for differently by each tellers voice

That about which there is no dispute~

all joined in by chance, what none would have by choice...

One became two on the way to three then four~

each misfit to the others a dismay

None able to fathom the mutual course~

which had into each one of their lives played...

First a simple unworldly peasant boy~

joins a drunken past his prime, Knight of the realm

Then an uneducated servants daughter~

by a ladys base born babe overwhelmed...

None of their plights much worse than were others~

infact each of their stories quite common

All stalked by trials & uncertainties~

not too mention by ghosts & by law men...

To be continued...

I grasp my feathered sugar-sack hat a cordially bow to your plumage.

Makes methink of a poem from olden times penned by a chaplin who served several kings:
"...in the middle of the pie three young partridges large and fat;
But take good care not to fail to take six fine quail to put by their side.
After that you must take a dozen skylarks, which round the quail you must place;
And then you must take some thrushes and such other little birds as you can get to garnish the pie.
Further, you must provide yourself with a little bacon, which must not be in the least rank (reasty), and you must cut it into pieces of the size
of a die, and sprinkle them into the pie.
If you want it to be in quite good form, you must put some sour grapes in and a very little salt ...
Have eggs put into the paste, and the crust made rather hard of the flour of pure spelt.
Put in neither spice nor cheese ...
Put it into the oven just at the proper heat,
The bottom of which must be quite free from ashes; and when it is baked enough, isn't that a dish to feast on!"
(From Gaces de la Bigne, first chaplain of
Kings John, Charles V., and Charles VI. circa 1359 AD)

I await when the rest of your piece comes wafting into the YPDC kitchen.
