A village
In the dark world of princes
In a land we all forsake
A light there is arising
A brightness none can take
So fierce and forlorn
So vibrant and free
A light that shines
For you and me
It strove against the darkness
Heroically fought the night
A power relentlessly strong
A force to be reckoned with
A power above us all
He saved us then
But only then
Went way beyond our plight
A fish out of water
A fight we’ll never fight
Of friends and foes
This one rises above
He takes our woes
He wraps them in love
Screaming on high
I am all things to come
Whisperings secrets
Never before done
Will we ever know
The reasons we’re here
Beyond our cares
Beyond our fears
They say it takes a village
But we’re not close to there
We’re killing off each other
And hurting those so near
No matter your mother
The bullets fly, to consequence
Will we ever be a village?
A safe port home
I truly consider
And the evil inherent
I sit and ponder
My conclusions
Abound with wonder
