there are well-tilled beds of capture
in the garden of delights,
where words bloom like flowers
under dappled, changing lights
strong roots of composition
anchor stems of hardy thought,
where ideas cling like creepers
to the arbours finely wrought
ripe expressions hang from trusses,
only waiting to be freed
nurtured to fruition
from the loam and luck of seed
dark feelings steal along the troughs,
seeking shadows’ balms
rich and complex textures
drawn from deeper, older realms
and here among the syntax,
the weeds of other things
poking heads above the soil
in their long meanderings
some will be cultivated,
others plucked to withered gloom
all in all the garden grows
in patient, pruning bloom.

You're cultivating Cupid's garden and I'm painting monsters on my walls --- I'd find the fact that these metaphors are so insanely incongruent rather amusing if I hadn't immediately considered that such a variance is so wholly right when the topic is poetry. 'Tis a funny thing, poetry... in the truest sense, it makes the choice for us. We can only stick our pens in the pool of ink and wait and see what comes of having done so (and hope like hell that we're not eaten alive by what we pull out).
Always a pleasure to read you - and this, a (perhaps much needed) reminder of the nuturing that is necessary (though I am, for now, still inclined to keep throwing paint haphazardly on the walls if only to see what sticks).

Oh my my my!!!!! S, this is positively brilliant!!!
I cannot say how much I truly adore this piece. It is such a soft,
touching, and yes, luring collection of words that I am almost
at a loss of faculty. You have beautifully, (just beautifully)
portrayed the building of art, from the very first, even slight
idea, through the nurturing and catering , to the finality of
the harvesting of thought. Stunning creation, dearest poet.
You have such a tremendous gift for exacting a thought, most
relevant to the masses, but somehow still manage to solict
much wonder, surprise and amazement at the thought itself.
One, that we, the readers, I'm SURE have already mulled
over. Clever poet. Very clever. I love this one. Truly ~

What can I say that hasn't been said in previous comments? you did a bloody good job on this one old chap, loads of metaphors, good word usage, nice tight ryhming, not a syllabel too long.
