With what we both knew
Dark shades of blue, loud noises from the parking lot outside
Let me stay here please
Escape the bitter breeze
In the city of lights we can be each other’s place to hide

And we’ll both talk away
Find a reason to stay
And I can pray, that you’ll feel better sometime
I can try my best
You can do the rest
Just don’t brush it all off as some romantic, sad crime

If you should decide the cost
After marking all you’ve lost
I will be there to hear
And after all the pain you’ve been through
I’ll trade a little part of me for a little part of you

Don’t you know?
I’ve no where to go
Don’t worry so; we’ve got all the time in the world
And your wounds will cure
At least of that I’m sure
So just talk into morning with the blankets curled

I met you one September night
We were both poor of sight
Drinking till we felt light, the tension just collapsed down
And you wrote words on my arm
Together and safe from harm
Why do I have a crush? It just seemed to come around

If you should decide the cost
After marking all you’ve lost
I will be there to hear
And after all the pain you’ve been through
I’ll trade a little part of me for a little part of you

You might figure it out some day
In some simple way
And I might stay; remain a choice all along
We’ll have no reason to cry
For once we can try
And it won’t be about what’s right and what’s wrong

But for now just close your eyes
Ignore your nightmare’s lies
No one will surprise, I’ll guard you, dream
And some tomorrow we can wake
Without a mistake
As we pass along in this crazy, fast stream

And when you decide the cost
Marking all you’ve lost
I will be here to hear
And after all the pain you’ve been through
You’ll have your little part of me I’ll have my little part of you
