Array ( [sid] => 127636 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The cycle [time] => 2006-10-30 23:18:13 [hometext] => we all know the cycle, it stares us in the eyes, and yet we continue it anyways [bodytext] => Hey, how’ve you been?
You smile and wave.
Still leading on the fact that
It’s just another person and it’s just another day
But as the person turns and leaves
A soft
“I love you” jumps from your mouth
Down your lips
And into your front pocket.
Oh how you wish you could take that small message
And send it like a rocket
Into his head.

Are you ok?
You see him
He’s upset
So you take this moment
To swoop in and be the hero who saves the day.
Again, on the exterior,
Your just another concerned person
But inside your ecstatic that you get the chance to help him out
You walk away satisfied and accomplished
As if you just moved up one more step in his rankings

Hey!…oh…
You pass him by as he’s saying hello
Leaving him thinking that you didn’t really care that he was there
So you’ll seem like you have other more important things on you mind
When all in all, you saw him, and your heart raced.
This continues on for days.
You thinking your stepping closer, and closer.
You start noticing that he doesn’t answer you when you say hello
Believing he’s playing your game
When in truth, he’s moved on because he thought you had too.

Hey, how’ve you been?
The question actually becomes apparent
You haven’t seen him in so long
You can barely remember.
Sure you haven’t seen him
But you wanted to.
He never left your thoughts
You want to know
Did you ever leave his?
You smile and wave.
Still leading on the fact that
It’s just another person and its just another day
The cycle begins again
And you heart is racing.

Hey, how’ve you been?
I love you.
Hey…how’ve you been?

You know...this was great. It really was. This is something that definately happens, and you're right...we're all victims of our own cycle. This was great, I just had to say it again.

I especially loved this:

"But as the person turns and leaves
A soft
“I love you” jumps from your mouth
Down your lips
And into your front pocket.
Oh how you wish you could take that small message
And send it like a rocket
Into his head."

I think that is absolutely awesome!

I agree, I love this poem because everyone feels this way at one point or another. Its so hard and we only do it to ourselves, but we can't seem to get away from it. Nicely done.
