The lightning in the sky electrifies me, makes me want to play.

I’m really a darker soul than I pretend to be,

Its mostly pain, heartache and fear that is inside of me.

The thunder pounds like drums in my head,

They sky up above, a shade of crimson red.

I stare out the window as my tears hit the ground,

I reach out to hold you, but you’re not around.

The lightning beams down as it tears through my soul,

But still electrifying me, making me whole.

I truly enjoy the timed admission of being "a darker soul..." and your piece reminded me of a song from Gensis "And There Were Three" which I quote here:
"You must blaze a trail of your own, unknown, alone,
But keep in mind
Don't live today for tomorrow like you were immortal.
The only survivors on this world of ours are
The warming sun, the cooling rain,
The snowflake drifting on the breath of the breeze,
The lightning bolt that frees the sky for you
Yet only eagles seem to pass on through.
The words of love, the cries of hate..."

Your piece also reminds me of Jungs collective unconscious and the overlooked "collective conscious" as the startling currents of life unite making us all whole.

Peace
Yangdantien

we all are fighting those invisible demons
that only we can see.
