Array ( [sid] => 127249 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Fickle Fate [time] => 2006-10-22 13:38:41 [hometext] => This is from a point in my life when I felt that I was destined for pain and misery. Every time something caused me happiness, something severely devastating soon ripped it from my grasp. [bodytext] => The time it quickly slips away
As I drift from day to day
With life's great joys and pains the same
I wish I had never entered the game

I know not what my future holds
I sit and wait to see how it unfolds
For happiness is clouded by pain
Just as sunshine is clouded by rain

In fear I tremble when good comes to me
Because soon to follow is worse misery
I do not rejoice when good news I hear
Instead I wonder who's death is near

Am I being punished for some previous life
Or does fate just enjoy being fickle and trite
I hope this curse will someday break
Before I end up at my own wake [comments] => 3 [counter] => 239 [topic] => 65 [informant] => SerenePsycho [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

Good rhyming scheme and a very good write. I have had these feelings before. Thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura

It does seem sometimes that any happiness we reach for is clutched away by pain..nice way of expressing it...good flow.

Earning fates jealous regard often feels as if a lose-lose proposition and I think that came through very clearly.
