[hometext] => a story for the young...
[bodytext] => Samantha Miller was a girl like any kid we see She’s eight years old and likes to play just like you and me. A month ago, out of the blue, Sam got sick and had to stay In a hospital away from school and games she liked to play. Mom and Dad came to see her every single day Her good friends Ben and Stephanie with whom she used to play Also came and brought balloons that wished her: “Get well soon!” Granny came most everyday and brought her macaroons. “Oh Granny, being sick’s the worst, I’m scared and feeling sad I never ever thought that I could feel this frightened and this bad.” Granny softly smiled at Sam, and wiped away her tear And with a hug and kiss she said, “try to find courage, dear” Sam fell asleep in Granny’s arms while hearing her advice. In Sam’s dreams, her Granny’s words began to come alive Granny said that Courage is the thing I need to find I wonder where to look for him, or even if he’d mind. Is Courage is out defending a far-off forgotten land From two-headed monsters with fiery breath and nine fingers on each hand? He’d teach those monsters lessons about what’s wrong and right ‘Cause even with eighteen fingers- pointing’s not polite. Or does he sail around the world across the open seas Helping sailors in distress who can’t fight their enemies. He takes back treasure from old pirates, nasty, mean and dumb And returns it to poor villagers that they were stolen from. Maybe he’s on holiday, climbing mountains high. Not stopping for a single break until he’s reached the sky. Once he’s there he puts a flag on the mountain’s crown He doesn’t stop to catch his breath just glides towards the ground. Then Sam awoke, and Granny asked, “my child, where have you been?” “Oh, Granny”, Sam held her hand, and told her what she’d seen. I dreamt that Courage was so brave and seemed to have no fear Courage always saved the day. I wish that he were here! “Oh sweet child, you needn’t wish nor wait for him to show. If you need some Courage then there’s nowhere you should go. Courage doesn’t spend its time in a far off place It doesn’t hide or rocket off to live in outer space. Courage lives in just one spot, that deep down place inside He’s really always inside you, but sometimes likes to hide. You need not look for Courage in a place that’s far away. Courage lives inside of you each and every day.” The secret, Sam, is to believe in better times ahead I know it seems like long ago, that things were not so sad Think of all the laughing playing, loving times you’ve had Samantha then closed her eyes, and asked her Courage to come out. She thought of happy times she’s had -before her pain and doubt. And sure enough as Granny said, she started to feel strong The recipe for courage was inside her all along. So anytime you’re scared or sad if you fall and skin your knee Just close your eyes and look inside, and that’s where you’ll find me. I’m not always easy to catch and am a funny guy Though my name is Courage, I can be a little shy. I’ll help you through those tricky times that are anything but fun Those gloomy, lonely, icky times when you just want to run. Just close your eyes and think good thoughts of better times, my dear. Courage lives inside us all, just waiting to appear.
