when I know I have to share them with half the world
how can I still love you this much
when the way you treat me is so unfair and cold

I used to believe in honesty and faith
and you were my proof of everything working out
but as I sit here waiting till it gets late
I know you've gone too far and I've hurt too much
for us to ever turn it around

I wish what I relied on wasn't a picture and a story
I write it in my head for lack of something better
without you I'm free to be straightforward with myself
so I keep returning to this lonely shelter

and things feel like they're on purpose lately
subtle hints and daggers aimed at no one else but me
I got so tangled in thinking I could tame you
but now all I want is for you to set me free
please let me be

I used to believe in honesty and faith
and you were my proof of everything working out

heartbreak sux. i doesn't matter what you title it...simply the topic you picked says it all.

and i know what it's like...it feels like everything was all a lie...

i like how you explained it though...beautifully, and not so angry like most people. i mean the anger is still there, but it's not as obvious as in most ppl's poems.

loved it,

- Bethani -

..fantastic truth my friend.. and the repetitive lines
are most heartfelt-
I wonder a bit about the final stanza>
first line in particular:
"I used to believe in honesty and faith"

>>don't lose that honesty and faith~

great work~

The world is full of charmers
who do little more than weave smooth
words to get what they want.
You can never tame a rattlesnake.
They always bite sooner or later.
Great writing. be careful out there.
Truly , Doug
