You give all you can give
You say the words you'd want to hear
How they're the reason that you live

You hold their heart and give yours away
For something you hope will last
You dream about forever every lonesome night and day
And forget about loves past

And when you find out that it's over, and reality sets in
You cry until you've no more tears and look back on your sins

You point the finger, you take the blame
You hope that something soon will change

And when there's nothing left to say
You try harder than before
To give your best attempt at words
To say I've never loved you more

You fret, regret, place your last bet
You're hoping it's still there
Somewhere in a memory
That you're hoping serves you fair

Your playing on the good times
And it's hard to bring them back
'Cause there's really nothing you can say
In the confidence you lack

So you write them down to try again
You say what you never really could then

You tell him you love him
But it's no use now
You know you'll move on
Your just not quite sure how

And you tell him your heart will forever be his
But you're both stuck in mistakes short of just one more kiss

And you say that it's worth all the tears and the pain
'Cause what he gave you before is what still gets you through the day

But a word that is written is never rightly expressed
And it means nothing in the the grander scheme
You write to tell him how you feel
And it will only ever work in a dream

There are things that you write that could never be said
There are words you'll never learn to speak
There are moments when you cannot feel
But in the rythm you try and fail to keep

There are times when it is better said
Or written in a song
But when words are only words it is a masterpiece
But a failure to your cause

Because the words you write to bring him back
Are nothing but simply, simply that

Words that go unheard to him because you did not say them to his face
And words that cannot bring you back, still they're words that nothing could replace

So you sing them to yourself and hope he's listening somewhere
Lost in the words of his favorite song that you know all too well
You pray that somehow he will hear your voice
And take to heart another choice
But the dearly written love song
The ending will never tell [comments] => 3 [counter] => 410 [topic] => 22 [informant] => gabby521 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 7 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

Very nice piece - and one I can very much relate to. But sometimes things are done which cannot be changed - that's how I found it with my last relationship. We broke up still in love - she was still hoping we would one day sort it out, but I couldn't anymore. She started trying just a little too late.
It's a confusing mess one finds themselves in when it happens...
Anyway, I liked this poem and the rhyming pattern works well. Good write!

- Tim

This is such a sad poem!! i love these sappy things, movies books, poems...it makes you think...wishing and hoping everythign will turn out alright, despite you usually know the ending from teh very start
"Words that go unheard to him because you did not say them to his face
And words that cannot bring you back, still they're words that nothing could replace

So you sing them to yourself and hope he's listening somewhere
Lost in the words of his favorite song that you know all too well
You pray that somehow he will hear your voice
And take to heart another choice
But the dearly written love song
The ending will never tell"
this is my life..i live it day by day - hoping he'll realize...
i love poems i can relate to,,,
