A bad dream awoke her and the dream remained after she opened her eyes
She could hear the sounds she heard every night when she slept and every morning when she woke
Sounds of lost souls trying to find each other find themselves and loose the world
Glass hitting the floor, screaming, crying, moaning
This is her nightmare and she sleeps above it every night

She is the only one in her class that doesn’t want to return home at the end of the day
Sometimes she doesn’t sometimes she stays out all night walking and watching
Her mother passes her on the street some nights and doesn’t even look twice
When she goes home she sneaks up the stairs to her room
Her sanctuary is here and has been for years
This is her nightmare and she avoids it every day

It wasn’t always like this they had a life once
Her mother was a wife once
But then her father took his life once
That’s when she went to sleep and started dreaming
