It's being alone when you know you don't have to be
It's seeing two flowers bud from the same stem
While you long to tear them apart
It's seeing the rain drench the roots of a tree
And knowing that this connection creates life
While the only thing created when the rain touches your skin
Is a cold and empty sadness
It's seeing the moon tugging the tides
Which will follow until the end of time
While the only thing you tug on is your own hair
Whose frayed and damaged ends resemble the edges of your soul
How long can a person look at these things before they finally break
At least, shattered into a million pieces
The shards of what you used to be will not be lonely [comments] => 7 [counter] => 311 [topic] => 48 [informant] => dinolove [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Yes, I know the feeling of this piece very well. Truth be told, I think that loneliness can benefit us much, especially once we grow able to deal with it well, but it's true; being alone when one doesn't have to be results in experiences passing by that might have been much more fully experienced with another. I wonder, is this the fault of our situation, or of ourselves?

Keep writing.

Andrew
