Array ( [sid] => 12647 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Stand on My Shoulders [time] => 2003-02-15 01:40:00 [hometext] => After watching an amazing play, a great friend of mine and I engaged in a conversation about assisting each other as we climb over obstacles standing in the pathway of our dreams... this poem was born from that uplifting conversation....thank you Derek, you are an inspiration and a true friend.... [bodytext] => Stand on my shoulders
If the waters get to deep
Stand on my shoulders
If the mountain gets to steep

I’ll be your shoulder
If you need to cry
I’ll be your shoulder
To lift you up on high

Stand on my shoulders
If you can’t see the road
Stand on my shoulders
I’ll help carry your load

I’ll be your shoulder
When you are in despair
I’ll be your shoulder
To show you I care

I’ll be there for you
To help make you bolder
But imagine what we could do
If we stood shoulder to shoulder…

Jill

I liked the pace of the poem. The end rhymes kept the pace consistent and flowing...which is incorporated into a good friendship.

As I read this poem, i leaned back in my chair and what i saw was the shape of an old style lantern which was used to lead one through the darkness. I see that in this poem...friends helping one another throughout life to achieve their goals and accomplish their dreams.

Great work!
