The man walks up to me

"Don't sip too much so fast

You'll forget what you have seen"

Watch you pacing

Head down to the floor

Quite a load to carry

With the stories you control

All the stories you control

Head drops to the ground

He slowly walks away

I call for his forgiveness

But he doesn't want to stay

What did you dream, old man

When you were as young as me

"Boy don't begin to wonder now

The evils that I have seen"

What can we dream now?

When are life begins to fade

Theres nothing left to question

And theres no way to escape

Who have we become now?

When are bodies are left cold

Left walking all alone now

With stories left untold

Sitting across the road

I watch what you've undone

Drop your head to defend yourself

From the evils that become

"Stop drinking so much"

Remind me once again

"Indulge to much of life son

You'll find it coming to an end"

Watch it come to an end..

You walk by me slowly

Down the roads of life you made

Head left untouched here

As your stories slowly fade

How did you dream, old man

When you were small like me

Did you dream the earth away

From the devils you have seen

What can we dream now?

When are life begins to fade

Theres nothing left to question

And theres no way to escape

Who have we become now?

When are bodies are left cold

Left walking all alone now

Nice write. I worked as a nurse for over 20 years and the stories the elderly can tell...Wow. I've heard some damn good stories. The title caught me with OLD MAN. An excellent song from Neil Young....if you're not familiar, you should check it out. Enjoyed the read.
Peace, Laura
