OUR WORLD ITS A MESS

WE FEED THE OTHER COUNTRY
AND CANT SEEM IT FEED OUR OWN

FAMILYS ON THE STREETS
LIVING UNDER A BRIDGE

WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE
WHY CANT WE GET A HEAD

YOU SEE A MAN SOMETIMES A
WOMAN TO WITH SMALL CHILDREN
AND YOU WONDER WHAT CAN YOU DO

THIER LIVING ON THE STREETS
AND WHY CANT WE THEM HELP TO
GET BACK ON THIER FEET

I KNOW SOME FOLKS CHOOSE
TO LIVE THIER LIFE THIS WAY
BUT OTHERS THEY DONT IT
JUST TURN OUT THIS WHY

ITS A SAD SAD DAY IN THIS
WORLD OF OURS WHEN
WE CANT FEED THE STARVING
CHILDREN AND WE HAVE TO
LOOK INTO THEIR EYES

I JUST WANT TO HELP THEM
I WANT TO DO MY PART
TO HELP THE HOMELESS FOLKS
TO GET A BETTER START

renee,
after RAF service during the war (WWII) I went back to University and read Social Science.
Did a lot of work with homeless people (among other things) but it is not that easy. In about 10% of cases it's pretty straightforward but you can put back on their feet many many more only to find they just can't stay there.
In the end you concentrate on the ones with whom you can succeed.
This is an admission of failure on my part. In the end I gave up altogether. Not enough patience. You need to be a saint.
