Of joy and ecstatic happiness
I feel blessed
Because God is there
We're as close as crossed fingers
Wrapped around each other like the love that we share
And as bottomless as a pit
We are tighter than the glove OJ couldn't fit

Like pages in a closed book
Book ended by the breath of his being
Like lashes on eyes closed but still seeing
Or like a secret on the closed lips of an open truth
He is closer to me that I am to you

He holds me like a tree holds leaves in the spring
Or how the ground does in the fall
And through it all he keeps me near his chest
So that I may hear the true heart of existence
And with no resistance
I catch up with the rythym
Because it beats a path to where salvation is given

We are intermingled like mixed children
Betwixt black and white walls rolling as I look above
And so entrenched within me
Are His blessings and love
That His spirit writes sermons preached in my brain
And I got the Holy Ghost running throughout my viens
Causing keyboard strokes to run crimson
Whispering words that radiate through my DNA

And I can say
We are close . . .
Not because you cant see Him
But becasue I can
And I walk with The Lord
My soul . . . in His hands

And I ask is…
How close are you?
