I think it helps to pass the time,
My days are long and hard you see,
My poetry is my company,

When nightmares come at dead of night,
And I awake and turn on the light,
I pick up my pen and trusted pad,
And write of things that make me glad,

When work it makes me tired and weak,
And my future seems all so bleak,
I come on here and read the words,
And realise I am being absurd,

For poetry makes me a different person,
Someone so confident and very certain,
Bold and brave my words make me,
My shyness hidden , no one can see,

Why do I write my poetry,
Is it because I want notoriety?
No! in reality , the truth is clear,
Its because you make me welcome here,

With no intent to make the author feel unwelcome, several reads of this poem lead me to the same conclusion - the poet has taken the easy way out and left us with nothing once we a finished reading. This reads very similar to an outline as opposed to a poem. The imagery is sparce -which is not negative in and of itself unfortunagely, nowhere do we get any information that might make a reader connect with our poet friend. He keeps his bleakness to himself. If merely namely the emotion is enough to quell it, perhap the word chosen is too strong to express what is implied. But we'll never know. Bold and brave, not just yet.

ucka,
I feel that someone that comments on the reason
some one writes is absurd.. Poetry is what you
make of it.. For one thing Jersey Sue is a she not
a "he or himself...? Read a little harder before
you crush some ones heart... Get to know them
before you THINK you do... People, I believe (and I
am sure many on here feel the same) misinterpret
these poems here daily...if it left you
questioning it maybe you should have sent a
private message to HER and asked her your
questions... Jersey has written many poems here all
of which I have yet to read (too many to finish in
one day... I haven't commented on your 5 poems
submitted because I had nothing good to say....

Sue,
I loved it myself... The reason you wrote
something is yours... You absolutely cannot write
something the way others want you to... If you did it
wouldn't come from your heart... therefore not
poetry... I love your work... You constantly make
me smile...

Bill

Sue, ucka is a sucka. I felt the connection right away, and there was plenty of clear imagery and honest emoting. I too have been bolstered many times by visiting this site, once I got over the insidious envy of comparison (I mean, how can you compete with someone who gets 800 reads on a poem about bubble wrap!). When I feel down I visit this site and read some of the lovely comments, some of which you have so generously posted.

cheers,

S

odd, but cool, also a little creepy in a way, no offense of course. but nice way to describe things in your life and what not.
