Bare sizzling blue sky,
blazing blistering sun,
gusting arid wind,
cracked parched terrain,
longing reddened eyes,
hapless infant’s cry,
weeping weedy woman,
a familiar sight,
farmer’s plight.

Deceitful weather,
rather primitive skill,
his futile community - but
a hinder, strive to kill,
blaming his fate,
gulp’s the venom
to shut his life’s gate
leaving behind,
the blameless infant to cry,
his weeping weedy woman to die.

Sightless people’s phony tears
deaf government’s vain vigor,
mute mighty media’s selfish desire,
is there anybody to hear,
our farmer’s dieing plight;
the ravenous infant’s cry?

A Farmer’s Plight

Bare sizzling blue sky,
blazing blistering sun,
gusting arid wind,
cracked parched terrain,
longing reddened eyes,
hapless infant’s cry,
weeping weedy woman,
a familiar sight,
farmer’s plight.

Good poem, but you need to tell those farmers about the abundant Gov't. farm subsidies, - courtesy of the taxpayer.

It's a sad comment on humanity today that from West Virgina to Ethiopia
there exist subsistence farmers who can't even afford to feed themselves.
Capitalism has left them behind...good write-we need people to draw attention to this.

I loved this poem, the ending is haunting bringing all the focus onto this one hungry child. Effective alliteration too.

We will be the hungry of the earth when the farmer gives up. Why do they build houses where farms once flourished. Our country is insane with greed but man must feed. when will we see that a house does not feed man?
